Completing the “OT Technician” practical course secures instant employment in hospital operation theatres despite rising unemployment. Basics of Anatomy, Physiology & Infection Control

  • Human anatomy (surgical sites: abdomen, ortho, cardio) & vital signs
  • Hand hygiene, PPE donning/doffing, BMW segregation
  • Sterilization basics (autoclave, fumigation)
  • Daily practice: Anatomy models + hygiene drills on mannequins

OT Layout, Equipment & Safety Protocols

  • OT zoning (sterile/clean), emergency protocols, fire safety
  • Handling OT tables, lights, suction, cautery
  • Patient positioning & transfer techniques
  • Hands-on: 200+ equipment setups + safety simulations

Surgical Instruments & Sterilization Techniques

  • Identification/assembly of instruments (scalpels, forceps, retractors)
  • CSSD processes (packing, labeling, EO gas)
  • Instrument care & troubleshooting
  • 100% lab: Each student sterilizes/assembles 250+ kits

Anesthesia Assistance & Intra-Operative Support

  • Anesthesia machine setup, monitoring (BP, SpO2, ETCO2)
  • Scrubbing/gowning, assisting in draping
  • Sponge/needle counts, swab handling
  • Daily 6–8 hours: 300+ mock OT setups + anesthesia drills on phantoms

Post-Operative Care & Emergency Procedures

  • Recovery room monitoring, wound dressing basics
  • Trauma response, CPR in OT, complication handling
  • Documentation (surgical checklists, incident reports)
  • Practical: 150+ recovery simulations + emergency role-plays

Live Hospital OT Internship (Full-Time Attachment) + Placement Preparation

  • This is the 6th and FINAL module – the ultimate job booster
  • 100% Practical – 5 weeks full-time in OT suites of tied-up hospitals (e.g., Fortis, district hospitals with 50+ surgeries/day)
  • Each student assists in minimum 200–250 real procedures: OT setup, instrument passing, patient monitoring under surgeon/anesthetist supervision
  • Handles live cases (general/ortho/trauma surgeries), morning/evening shifts, emergency OTs
  • Learns workflow: Shift handover, inventory audits, team coordination Last 7–10 days:
  • Resume building for OT roles
  • Mock interviews (hospital panel style: sterilization Q&A, emergency scenarios)
