Completing the "ICU Technician" practical course secures fast-track employment in critical care units despite rising unemployment. Every hospital with ICU/CCU needs skilled technicians to manage ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, and assist doctors round-the-clock. Total Modules: 6 (75–80% practical in every module)

Basics of Critical Care, Anatomy & Patient Safety

  • Human anatomy & physiology basics (respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous systems)
  • Vital signs monitoring (BP, pulse, SpO2, temp)
  • Infection control, PPE, hand hygiene, BMW management
  • Patient positioning & basic care for unconscious/critical patients
  • Daily practice: Vital checks on mannequins/volunteers + PPE drills

ICU Equipment Handling & Maintenance Basics

  • Introduction to ICU monitors (ECG, pulse oximeter, NIBP, capnography)
  • Infusion pumps, syringe pumps, oxygen delivery systems (masks, nasal prongs, ET tubes)
  • Daily/weekly equipment checks & troubleshooting
  • Sterilization & calibration basics
  • 100% lab: Each student handles 200+ equipment setups on simulators

Mechanical Ventilation & Respiratory Support

  • Ventilator types (invasive/non-invasive: Dräger, GE, Philips)
  • Modes (VCV, PCV, SIMV), settings (FiO2, PEEP, tidal volume)
  • Intubation assistance, suctioning, ABG interpretation basics
  • Weaning protocols & alarm management
  • Daily 6–8 hours: 250+ ventilator simulations + tube insertion practice on dummies

Advanced Monitoring & Life-Support Systems

  • Defibrillators (AED, biphasic), pacemakers, IABP basics
  • Hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, arterial lines)
  • Crash cart setup & emergency drug administration
  • Central line & catheter care
  • Hands-on: 300+ monitoring sessions + defibrillator drills on high-fidelity mannequins

Emergency Procedures & Documentation in ICU

  • BLS/ACLS protocols, CPR (adult/pediatric), code blue response
  • Trauma care basics, wound dressing, NG tube/ Foley catheter insertion
  • Shift handover, patient charts, incident reporting
  • Ethical issues in critical care (DNR, end-of-life)
  • Practical: 150+ emergency scenarios + chart filling practice

Live Hospital ICU Internship (Full-Time Attachment) + Placement Preparation

  • This is the 6th and FINAL module – the game-changer for 100% employability
  • 100% Practical – 5 weeks full-time in a 10–20 bed ICU of tied-up hospitals (e.g., Apollo, Fortis affiliates)
  • Each student assists in minimum 200–250 real critical cases: Ventilator setup/monitoring, patient transfers, emergency codes under supervision
  • Works morning/evening shifts, handles live equipment (ventilators, monitors, crash carts)
